British star Tom Watson inked to UFC bout with Brad Tavares in Nottingham
Two of the top British welterweights in the world have agreed to face off in front of their countrymen on September 29 at UFC on Fuel 5 in the form of a fight between John Hathaway and John Maguire . Both men are coming off back-to-back wins inside the Octagon.
It remains unlikely as ever that heavyweight legend Fedor Emelianenko will ever see action inside the Octagon, especially in light of the Russian’s recent retirement from MMA. However, while such news brings frowns to the faces of many fans, it also appears not being able to work out the particulars with Emelianenko is one of UFC President Dana White ’s rare regrets. White went after Emelianenko in 2009 before “The Last Emperor” eventually signed with Strikeforce , nearly putting together a deal seeing the PRIDE icon face former heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar under the UFC banner.

On the weekend of July 7 the UFC Hall of Fame will welcome in one of the more deserving fighters to ever grace the inside of the Octagon. Tito Ortiz , also known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy,” will take his rightful place next to other legends including long-time adversary Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Royce Gracie and another of Ortiz’s bitter rivals, Ken Shamrock

Brazilian welterweight Carlos Eduardo Rocha started out strong in the UFC with an opening round submission win over Kris McCray . However, it apparently wasn’t enough to save Rocha’s job after being outpointed in his follow-up fights against Jake Ellenberger and most recently Mike Pierce .

With Strikeforce ’s next card about two weeks away the organization has started to focus on putting together the lineup for the following month’s effort headlined by bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey ’s title-defense against Sarah Kaufman . Earlier today the promotion confirmed three more fights for the August 18 event including a previously rumored pairing between Derek Brunson – Ronaldo Souza . Also announced was a battle between welterweights Roger Bowling-Tarec Saffiedine as well as light heavyweight action featuring Ovince St.

Strikeforce confirms trio of tilts for August 18 card
Tim Kennedy and Luke Rockhold were expected to meet for the Strikeforce middleweight title earlier this year. However, Kennedy pulled out of the planned encounter and never really said much in regards to why
Maybe the MMA Gods just do not want Terry Etim and Joe Lauzon to square off against one another. Unfortunately it appears Etim has been injured and the bout, set for UFC on FOX 4 , is now off. This is the second time these two were scheduled to face each other with an injury ending the first bout’s coming to fruition
It looks like a rematch between rivals Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva may not be a lock after all.
