Former UFC light heavyweight champ Rashad Evans is likely several big wins away from competing for the title again. Earlier this year, “Suga” was handed a decisive decision defeat to Jon Jones for the belt he once wore and is essentially at the back of the contendership line as a result. Over the weekend, after witnessing middleweight king Anderson Silva handle Chael Sonnen , Evans sent out a message via Twitter that he was willing to face “The Spider.” Unfortunately for fans, manager Glenn Robinson has put the brakes on talk of his fighter heading down to the division.
This past weekend’s title-fight between UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva and challenger Chael Sonnen was not without its share of controversy including the title-holder getting overly aggressive at the weigh-ins and a stiff knee in their fight some felt was illegally thrown. Nevada Athletic Commission executive Keith Kizer recently addressed both issues, issuing a firm warning to Silva for his behavior and shrugging off the notion of an appeal pertaining to the questionable strike.

In a matter of hours the UFC may crown a new champion in the form of Chael Sonnen as well as a new era in terms of a title-holder who openly admits to using Testosterone Replacement Therapy. While UFC middleweight champ Anderson Silva confirmed he would remain loyal to his MMA roots and show Chael Sonnen respect after their fight Saturday night, the idea that Sonnen will do the same seemed highly unlikely given his past behavior. “The Spider” has been the focal point of Sonnen’s verbal assaults for years based on a few person issues as well as the fact he’s the divisional king
A day after Brian Stann came forward to proclaim his interest in a bout with Michael Bisping , fellow UFC middleweight Alan Belcher ’s camp released a statement explaining “The Talent” not only wants to battle Bisping but has already received a phone call from UFC brass in relation to the rumble. “Michael Bisping mentioned that he would like to fight Alan Belcher. Alan accepts! (UFC matchmaker) Joe Silva called,” wrote Duke Roufus on The Underground
Call it unbiased analysis or the wishes of a man seeking a rematch with an opponent who outpointed him in controversial fashion, but when it comes to the headlining tilt between Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen at UFC 148 , UFC middleweight Michael Bisping sees the challenger coming out on top. Bisping, who battled Sonnen in January and lost a decision many felt he deserved the nod in, recently weighed in on the title-fight scheduled for Saturday night where he broke down his belief that Sonnen is destined to become divisional champion. “As well all know, styles make fights, and Chael Sonnen’s style as a fighter is a bad recipe for Anderson Silva,” began Bisping on this week’s episode of UFC Tonight .
