Bellator has received a lot of criticism regarding the talent and depth in their heavyweight division and now appears to be trying to do something about it as the fight promotion has signed Brett Rogers . Last night former heavyweight champion Frank Mir learned the same painful lesson Cain Velasquez , Shane Carwin, Fabricio Werdum , and others came away with after spending some time in the cage with Junior dos Santos – his striking is the real deal. While Mir entered the fight thinking he was prepared for much of what Dos Santos had to offer while standing he quickly found himself overwhelmed based on the Brazilian’s technical prowess. “His hand speed wasn’t really what surprised me as much as his foot speed.
Light heavyweight Eliot Marshall has decided he has set foot inside the ring for the final time as a competitor. The 31-year old won over viewers on the Ultimate Fighter 8 with his blend of humility and humor, finding moderate success inside the Octagon including victories over Vinny Magalhaes and Jason Brilz . While Marshall will unfortunately not go out on a high note, losing a controversial decision to Brandon Vera this past October, the submission-specialist will certainly exit the sport with his head held high after realizing his true calling in life is as a BJJ instructor rather than world-class Mixed Martial Artist.

TMZ Sports was first to report the story where it was also revealed Jones’ mother bailed him out of jail shortly after his incarceration

Gracie, who has stood up for Diaz publicly before, finally broke the silence surrounding the 28-year old’s decision to not show up for a scheduled grappling match this past weekend. While Gracie expressed disappointment in a written statement published late last night he also made it clear he understood where his star pupil was coming from given the lack of professionalism he received from the organization hosting the bout

It may be far from an official announcement but signs continue to indicate former double-divisional champion B.J. Penn is leaning towards returning to the ring after deciding to hang up his gloves this past October. Though Penn still seemed on the fence when asked about it a week ago after UFC on Fuel 2 , the popular Hawaiian also admitted he’d been back in the gym training, and apparently for good cause too, at least according to UFC President Dana White .
