It looks like former Strikeforce champion Muhammed Lawal won’t be fighting inside the Octagon anytime soon, if ever, after entering discussions with Bellator to join the organization. Interestingly enough, Lawal is also apparently on the cusp of joining TNA Wrestling to test his skills as a professional wrestler. The 31-year old has never shied away from his love of the sports-entertainment industry, paying homage in the past by walking down to fights while wearing a crown, holding an umbrella, and being accompanied by a group of dancing girls.

Strikeforce heavyweight Daniel Cormier holds a 9-0 record and is coming off wins over Jeff Monson and Antonio Silva , the latter of which earned him a spot in the final of the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix against Josh Barnett and solidified his position as one of the sport’s brightest stars. However, none of the success he’s experienced inside a cage compares to a particular win during his wrestling days.
The UFC is set to return to network television in a little more than a week with a fantastic card featuring a pair of contender-laden co-headliners in addition to a handful of other fan-friendly matches. At the top of lineup is a bout between lightweights Nate Diaz and Jim Miller who will be battling it out for a title-shot, each an accomplished grappler with wins over a number of respected 155-pound peers. Before Miller-Diaz mix it up, top welterweights Josh Koscheck and Johny Hendricks will throw down with the winner likely moving a single victory away from earning a championship opportunity of his own.

After compiling a fourth consecutive loss by tapping out to Chris Lytle last August it seemed UFC welterweight Dan Hardy ’s days of being part of the organization’s roster were at an end. Though ultimately the brash Brit received a stay of execution from boss Lorenzo Fertitta and is now scheduled to face Duane Ludwig at UFC 146 , as far as “The Outlaw” is concerned fans have indeed seen the last of that particular version of “Dan Hardy” inside the Octagon.

For longtime fans of Mixed Martial Arts this past Saturday night was special for reasons beyond the incredible main event. While there’s little question Dan Henderson ’s dance with Mauricio Rua was as good a fight as the last few years have produced, it was the bout preceding the headliner bringing true satisfaction for many after Wanderlei Silva came away with a convincing win over Cung Le in a match-up almost certainly marking his last inside the Octagon had it gone differently. UFC cameras caught up with an emotional Silva shortly after his victory at UFC 139 where “The Axe Murderer” discussed his performance, reflected on how much the win meant to him, and expressed heartfelt appreciation for the love his fans had shown him throughout his career.
