A broken hand may have laid waste to the headlining bout originally planned for this past weekend’s UFC 147 lineup but it looks like the UFC is still looking to have Vitor Belfort and Wanderlei Silva meet in front of their fellow Brazilians before the year ends. According to UFC official Marshall Zelaznik , the Octagon will likely return to Rio in October with the event playing host to Belfort-Silva II. The two legends first locked horns in 1998 with “The Phenom” putting the finishing touches on Silva in less than a minute

When UFC lightweight Gray Maynard enters the Octagon tonight to face Clay Guida in the main event at UFC on FX 4 he’ll do so with an entirely new camp behind him after abandoning his longtime home of Xtreme Couture to spend time at Nova Uniao and American Kickboxing Academy. However, it’s Guida who will appear to be the changed fighter as a result of Maynard’s team requesting he braid his trademark tresses rather than let the locks flow as they have in the past. Guida was asked about the situation after yesterday’s weigh-ins where he maintained his ever-present sense of humor, shrugging off any concerns about suffering a Samson-like stumble due to the change in hairstyle.

There has been some debate as to whether or not UFC heavyweight Cain Velasquez deserves a rematch with divisional champion Junior dos Santos after only picking up a win over Antonio Silva since suffering a knockout loss to the hard-hitting Brazilian this past November. However, Dos Santos himself apparently feels Velasquez is the top contender out there to his title despite the looming shadow cast by suspended challenger Alistair Overeem . “I don’t think Overeem deserves to be fighting for the title at this point because he got his drug test failed so I think Cain Velasquez deserve his rematch against me,” said Dos Santos on this past week’s episode of Spike TV’s MMA Uncensored
UFC lightweight Jeremy Stephens (20-7) is out to make history on Tuesday night when he mixes it up with Donald Cerrone (17-4) in a co-headlining clash at UFC on Fuel 3 .

Despite featuring a PPV lineup comprised completely of heavyweights it looks like the scope of UFC 146 has gotten even larger with the announcement that the headlining tilt between Junior dos Santos and Frank Mir will be featured on a three-part UFC Primetime special documenting the final build towards the bout. The first show will air on May 11 on FX at 11:00 PM EST after the latest episode of the Ultimate Fighter 15 with May 18 and May 25 hosting the following installments. Replays will be shown on Fuel TV.

Heavyweight Alistair Overeem has finally broken the silence regarding his recent failed drug test, explaining the origin of his extraordinarily high T/E ratio and, unfortunately, singing a tune far too familiar from those who have run into similar issues in the past. Also interesting, Overeem claimed he withdrew from his UFC 146 title-fight with Junior dos Santos this past Friday rather than being replaced against his will.

Middleweight Anthony Johnson (10-4) knows what’s on the mind of most fans when it comes to his current status. Rather than wondering about what he’s working on for his next fight or how his training in general has gone, the question he fields most often pertains to his weight. While he’s not dishing out any numbers at the moment, Johnson understands the curiosity surrounding his oft-strained relationship with the scale.
